Qwuloolt Estuary Restoration
Marysville, Washington
The Qwuloolt Board of Trustees—the Tulalip Tribe, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and Ecology— has undertaken restoration of a 390-acre estuary at the mouth of Allen and Jones Creeks within the city of Marysville and adjacent to Ebey Slough. ESA is assisting with strategy, design, public involvement, environmental documentation, and permitting. The goal is to return land that was farmed to tidal estuary habitat. ESA has prepared a feasibility report, analyzed alternatives, and assisted in selecting the preferred restoration alternative. For the restoration of Jones and Allen Creek, ESA prepared designs, NEPA documentation, the Biological Assessment, and permits. ESA continues to work with the Trustees to design levee removal.
