Auburn Shoreline Master Program Update

Auburn, Washington

Auburn ShorelineA shoreline restoration plan was developed for the City of Auburn, as required by Washington State Department of Ecology guidelines. The plan focused on continued participation in the regional planning and restoration efforts underway through the WRIA 9 and 10 forums. The shoreline master program (SMP) goals, policies, regulations and environment designations were developed with the Planning Commission and City Council after public workshops and meetings. ESA prepared a shoreline inventory and characterization report and GIS map folio for 4-5 mile sections of the Green and White Rivers within Auburn’s city limits and the Muckleshoot Reservation. Both the Green and White Rivers are important migratory channels for salmonids, including Chinook salmon. The total SMP update package is currently with Ecology pending their approval.
