California’s Napa River flows 55 miles through one of the most scenic landscapes in northern California. The Napa River is now as much as three times deeper in sections than it once was and erosion is a major problem. Bed erosion and disconnection of the river from its floodplain and former side channels removed spawning and rearing habitat for as many as 8,000 migrating steelhead and Chinook salmon, while increasing the vulnerability of adjacent vineyards to erosion and seasonal flooding. read more »

The Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem Restoration Project (PSNERP) is a large-scale ecosystem study of the Puget Sound led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife with support from other state, local and federal agencies, tribes, industries and environmental organizations. read more »

Clark County Shoreline Master Program Update

Located in southwest Washington, Clark County and its cities formed a coalition to update their Shoreline Master Programs (SMP) to guide the development and protection of more than 400-miles of freshwater shorelines—including resources like 2,300-acre Vancouver Lake and the Columbia, Lewis, and Washougal, Rivers—into the year 2040. The Coalition, composed of Clark County and the cities of Camas, Battle Ground, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and the Town of Yacolt, required experienced consultants to help them meet their ambitious goals. read more »
