Proposition 84 Grants - Upcoming Solicitation

On September 18, 2013 the California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) released the revised draft guidelines for the third and final round of Sustainable Communities Planning Grants and Incentives Program (funded by the Prop 84 grant). The primary goal of the grant is to fund the development or implementation of plans that lead to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions to foster the development of sustainable communities in California. The Council will fund proposals that fall within the following three Focus Areas: Focus Area #1: Innovative Incentives for Sustainable Development Implementation; Focus Area #2: Sustainable Community Planning near Transit Priority Projects (TPPs); and Focus Area #3: Collaborative Community Planning in Preparation for High Speed Rail (HSR).
ESA has been tracking the guideline revisions closely to help our clients apply for this grant. ESA has been successful in assisting our local jurisdiction clients in applying and receiving grant funding from the first two rounds, and performing the work under the grant. The guidelines will be considered for approval at the Council’s November 5th meeting, and applications will be due in February 2014.
