Patricia Berryhill joins ESA as San Francisco Bay Area Regional Director

Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading California environmental consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Patricia Berryhill has joined the firm as Vice President and Regional Director for ESA’s San Francisco Bay Area Region, managing staff in San Francisco, Oakland, and Petaluma. Patricia replaces outgoing Regional Director, Ellen Cross, who has been appointed Senior Vice President of Strategic Development for the firm. Patricia will be based out of the firm’s San Francisco office.

Patricia brings more than 20 years of consulting experience leading effective environmental documentation and environmental compliance for infrastructure and environmental restoration projects throughout California. Patricia excels in collaborating with project applicants and engineering teams to develop environmental compliance and permitting strategies, facilitating successful and timely project approvals that meet project applicant and funding entities criteria.

Patricia’s project experience includes flood control, transmission lines, water infrastructure and supply, small and large-scale transportation, transit and high speed railways throughout California. She is well versed in all aspects of the environmental review and permitting process including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Throughout her career, Patricia has worked on several high profile projects including the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge Project and she was awarded the role of permit coordinator for the first public private partnership project in the northern California transportation industry, Presidio Parkway/Doyle Drive.

“Patricia brings the right type of experience to lead and direct our more than 100 technical specialists and planners in the Bay Area,” says Eric Ruby, ESA Chief Operating Officer. “She has a keen understanding of the environmental industry drivers specific to northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.”

Prior to joining ESA, Patricia was the California Environmental Planning Director for a national engineering firm. Before that she spent more than a decade leading her own environmental consulting firm. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in conservation of natural resources from UC Berkeley and is a member of the Association of Environmental Professionals, Women in Transportation Seminar, and the Professional Environmental Marketing Association.
