Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading environmental consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Mike Leech has joined the firm as Director of Geospatial Services. With more than 150 Geographic Information System (GIS) users, ESA has been using geospatial technologies to provide our clients with real-time analytics, data visualization and information management solutions across the U.S. in areas of natural resource management, hydrology, transportation, aviation, stormwater management, and energy infrastructure.

“Geospatial data and technology have become critical to how we approach, document, and communicate our projects. Having a strong leader who understands the tools and how to use them to improve our data collection, solve analytical challenges and share information companywide is imperative to our success,” said Margaret Clancy, ESA’s Northwest Regional Director. “Mike has extensive experience partnering with clients such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Land Management and the City of Mukilteo to develop customized mobile and web-based geospatial products to enable efficient long-term project planning and implementation.”

Mike brings 15 years of experience in technical project management, database development, and training for tribal governments, universities, and private consulting firms. Mike’s experience includes deploying field teams with GPS devices for data collection, mapping plant communities using object-based and pixel-based remote sensing tools and managing software development life cycles for international humanitarian organizations. He has also developed curricula for intensive hands-on courses for the Northwest Environmental Training Center in areas of GIS software applications, spatial database development, and information management.
