ESA’s Work Receives 2013 NAEP National Environmental Excellence and 2013 AEP Outstanding Environmental Analysis Awards

Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading California environmental consulting firm, was involved with four award-winning projects recognized at the April 2, 2013 awards luncheons during the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) and Association of Environmental (AEP) Professionals Joint Conference in Los Angeles, CA.

34th America’s Cup EIR/EA and Permitting received NAEP’s prestigious President’s 2013 National Environmental Excellence Award and the 2013 AEP Outstanding Award in the Environmental Analysis category. ESA led the pioneering CEQA, NEPA, and permitting process for this large-scale temporary event. ESA’s President Gary Oates, and San Francisco Planning Department’s Joy Navarrete accepted both awards on behalf of our many clients.

“It is an honor that our environmental impact report and assessment is recognized locally and nationally by two esteemed environmental professional associations,” said John Rahaim, planning director, San Francisco Planning Department. “I am especially excited that the Environmental Science Associates, Orion Environmental Associates and our environmental planning staff has received the acknowledgment they deserve for the incredible work on the America’s Cup environmental analysis.”

Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion EIR/EIS received a 2013 AEP Outstanding Award in the Environmental Analysis category. Celebrating the culmination of more than 10 years of work from planning to construction completion, ESA has been a trusted partner of Contra Costa Water District every step of the way from concept to completion. ESA’s California Water Leader, Leslie Moulton, and Contra Costa Water District’s Fran Garland accepted the award.

Ocean Beach Concept Master Plan received a 2013 AEP Merit Award in the Planning Document category. ESA’s Environmental Hydrology practice, formerly ESA PWA led this cutting edge effort to address and plan for long-term current and future Ocean Beach uses.

Ocotillo Wind Energy Facility EIS/EIR received a 2013 AEP Outstanding Award in the Environmental Analysis category. ESA provided BLM with project management assistance, cultural resources technical support and NEPA documentation, including the Record of Decision and Administrative Record for this 15,000-acre wind energy project.

Congratulations to America’s Cup Event Authority, Bureau of Land Management, Contra Costa Water District, Ocotillo Express, LLC, Port of San Francisco, The National Park Service, Presidio Trust, San Francisco Planning Department, San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, and the many people who've contributed to the success of these award-winning projects.
