Brian Ramos, PhD Named Chief Operating Officer

ESA is pleased to announce that Brian Ramos, PhD, Senior Vice President and Northern California Regional Director, has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO).

“Brian has been successfully managing ESA’s largest region, actively engaging with staff to increase operational efficiencies, positively impacting our bottom line – qualities critical to the COO position,” says Gary Oates, ESA’s CEO and President. “His strategic approach to business, collaborative leadership, and thorough understanding of our industry make him a natural fit for our executive leadership team.”

Brian brings over 30 years of experience in environmental consulting, professional archaeology and the financial industry. Brian assumes the role with proven business acumen and financial management expertise, gained through his years of previous industry leadership and more recently as the leader of ESA’s Northern California region, comprising four offices and more than 180 employees.

A recognized expert in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, he has worked on more than 300 cultural resource projects and directed complex environmental work on some of the more high profile projects in the west. Brian is a professional archaeologist and holds a doctor of philosophy in anthropology from the University of California at Davis.

Brian Boxer, AICP will become ESA’s new Northern California Regional Director, working out of ESA’s Sacramento Office.
