Brian Ramos, PhD Joins ESA as Northern California Regional Director

Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading California environmental consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Brian Ramos, PhD has joined the firm as Senior Vice President and Northern California Regional Director. He directs more than 160 staff from our Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland, Santa Cruz and Petaluma offices. Brian replaces outgoing Bay Area Regional Director, Patricia Berryhill who has been appointed ESA’s Community Development Deputy Practice Leader; and outgoing Central Valley Regional Director Erich Fischer, who has been appointed ESA’s California Biological Resources and Land Management Practice Leader. Brian will be based out of the firm’s San Francisco office.

Brian brings over 30 years of experience in environmental consulting, professional archaeology and the financial industry. With proven business acumen and financial management, he was previously a regional leader for an international, publically held consulting firm where he managed environmental and planning staff in eight offices in Northern California, Oregon and Washington. A recognized expert in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, he has worked on more than 300 cultural resource projects and directed complex environmental work on some of the more high profile projects in the west. His experience includes the San Francisco Presidio Trust’s Main Post Management Plan Update, the BART Warm Springs Extension Project, California High Speed Rail from San Jose to Merced, and Alameda County Transportation Commission’s East-West Connector Project. As a former District Office Chief for Cultural Resources Studies with the California Department of Transportation District 4, Brian brings extensive knowledge of environmental and cultural resources documentation, mitigation, and monitoring for transportation projects. Brian holds a doctor of philosophy in anthropology from the University of California at Davis.
