Environmental Hydrology
Water is a complex global system, interconnected and able to transform or shift by a variety of factors.
As one of our most valued and shared resources, navigating the regulatory complexities, preservation and enhancement, systems design and management of water is getting more and more challenging.
We work alongside clients to carefully evaluate their climate adaptation, flood management, and restoration projects. We develop innovative and cost effective environmentally sensitive solutions to protect, enhance, and restore water-dependent ecosystems. Our work integrates rigorous science with practical engineering solutions to address a range of problems affecting environments from the headwaters to the coast.
Pioneers of environmental hydrology, ESA PWA was founded by Philip Williams, who advanced a multidisciplinary approach using engineering and science to manage and restore natural ecosystems. We now know this approach as environmental hydrology.
We’re committed to integrating the ecological and geomorphic processes with traditional civil engineering to pursue solutions that benefit the natural and developed environments. We’ve completed nearly 2,000 projects impacting water systems for clients including government agencies, developers, attorneys, and citizen groups. We specialize in delivering integrated solutions from policy recommendations to construction design.
